Local Area Information

Being located in the elevated village of Dendrinata but only 3km away from the quaint fishing village of Agia Efimai, Villa Levanta offers the best of both worlds. Quiet, peaceful surroundings but only a very short distance from tavernas, bars, cafes, bakeries etc.

There are many beautiful places to visit on Kefalonia and these are just a few of the closest:

3km. Agia Efimia and its quiet secluded coves.

7km to beautiful Myrtos beach.

12km  Beautiful quaint fishing harbour of Assos with its hilltop Venetian Castle. If you follow a less direct route from Villa Levanta to Assos, the distance is 21km but the views will be worth the drive...particularly the sunsets.

13km (approx 15min drive) Sami and the famous beach of Antisamos a further 5 minute drive. Above the port of Sami, on Mount Lapitha, you will find ancient citadel of Sami. The Acropolis and ruins show the defensive architecture and stone masonry which dates from the classical and Hellenistic era of 5th -2nd century. The film Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed around here. There are many hiking trails in this area. You can also get the ferry to some of the neighbouring islands from Sami.

26km to Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. A must if you want to see the turtles as they are always there in the morning when the fishermen sell their fish. Argostoli is the main shopping area on the island. A short distance from Argostoli you will find the Cyclopean walls of Ancient Krani, the Mycenaean Cemetery of Mazarakaton and many monuments relating to the World War 2.

29km Lassi with many sandy beaches and restaurants to choose from.

29km north is picturesque yacht harbour of Fiscardo. It has a very cosmopolitan feel to it and worth a visit to look at some of the beautiful yachts and to sit, eat and drink cocktails right on the pretty harbour front.  You will also find the archeological site of the roman cemetery with dates from 2nd century BC to 4th century AD. The site was discovered in 1993 and revealed 27 tombs along with treasures of jewellery, ceramics, glass vessels and coins.
